Johnny story will bring tears to any one reading this forum. Johnny’s boss had read an article in Boar Hunter magazine about USSA. She called to tell me Johnny was 42 years old and was very terminal with cancer. He had only one child and his last wish was to go on a TX deer hunt with his son. She made it very clear that he was not well and we needed to set up a deer hunt as soon as possible.

She had explained to me how her community and church had thrown a raffle to raise money for the plane tickets but couldn’t afford a hunt. I had tears in my eyes listening to her tell me how everyone in the community gave what little they had so his wish could be granted.

I told her I would be attending the Texas Deer Association meeting and I would see if someone there would be interested in granting his wish.

I met Brent Geistweidt owner of White Ghost Ranch and after I explained the story about Johnny and his last wish, Brent gave me the biggest smile and said, “I will grant Johnny’s wish!” Brent introduced me to his entire family; his wife, two sons and parents. The love and Christianity surrounding this family was enriching. I had prayed that God would help me find the right people for Johnny and his son and my prayers were answered.

Johnny called me yesterday to thank me for setting up the deer hunt and I could tell he was holding back his tears.

The hunt will take place tomorrow and lets all keep Johnny in our prayers. God bless you Johnny and your family and everyone at the White Ghost Ranch!

It sure gives a guy a lump in his throat to read a story like this. What an excellent program you have Brigid! Good luck to you today Johnny, I will be thinking of you and your family on this very special day. There is nothing better than seeing something like this happen. Recently I lost my father to limphoma, lung and colon cancer, and unfortunately there were too many miles between us before his passing to bring a quality, adventurous event like a hunt to bring a very special bond to a father and his son. Thank you Brent and your family for helping make this beautiful event take place! I can't wait to see the outcome of this great story!!!

Howdy Friends,

Johnny Furtick and his family attend a deer hunt at my ranch here in Houston, TX. Johnny is facing an uphill battle fighting for his life with Leukemia. Johnny’s last wish was to leave his hometown in South Carolina and shoot a big buck in our home state of Texas. With Gods grace we were able to grant Johnny wish and he harvested an 11 pointer.

This deer hunt was donated to the Texas Deer Association [TDA] and United Special Sportsman Alliance [U.S.S.A.] for their “Hunt for Your Dream Project.” The goal of this project that Brigid O’Donoghue and I are working on is to produce a television show to help these kids and our hunting industry. Our future goal is to film 26 disabled and terminal children on a deer hunt.

God bless you.
