April 27-28, 2007 we had a USSA fishing event for disabled children near Paris, TX on Toby Yoder’s ranch. When I met Toby at the last EWA annual convention, he offered to donate his place for some special children to tour his elk ranch and go fishing. Nick Foppiano (USSA) and Toby Yoder headed up the project and it was quite an event for all the children and their families. We had great bass fishing on his big lake and outstanding catfish fishing later on that day. Pro-fisherman Perry Powell donated his time and expertise to help make the success rate outstanding. The families really enjoyed the tour of Toby’s elk operation and were in awe of the majesty of the animals. The families carried home many fine pictures of their first experience on an elk farming operation. A highlight of the event was the fish fry and hushpuppies we had for lunch. We all ate until we were about ready to pop. Brigid O’Donoghue |
