Eight special children enjoyed an incredible day of shooting clay pidgeons and hunting live pheasants at Tanglewood Ranch and Hunt Club outside of Mineral Point yesterday. Kurt and Tammy Wedig invited Wings over Wisconsin to guide and run dogs for the eight young hunters in this United Special Sportsmans Alliance activity. The children and adults were treated to lunch and a tour of the largest elk ranch in Wisconsin at neighboring Wildlife Acres. Over 900 elk are owned by Russell Schelkopf and managed by Wisconsin Commercial Deer and Elk Farmers Association Board Member Rob Marr. Ron Burbach of the Iowa-Lafayette Chapter of Wings over Wisconsin, Inc. presented USSA Vice-President Joel Espe with a check for $1,000. as a donation to USSA, making them Platinum Sponsors. Since it's inception in 1980, Wings has grown to over 4,200 members. Wings has been named "Conservation Organization of the Year" in 2006, 1996 and 1990. Thanks to Wings of Wisconsin for their generosity of time and money to these special children and events. Photos to follow soon, the smiles of young hunters are priceless. |
