On November 9, 2007 I experienced a great day of fishing on tough Lake Fork, here in Texas, with a couple of real American Hero's. Two real gentlemen from our military; Robin Davis of the US Air force and Billy Prasuhn of the US Army; we were joined by "Doc" Robin's service dog. Lake Fork Marina operated by Don and Dana Donahue helped in every way to make this trip a great experience for the guys. Everyone pitched in to give these guys a trip to remember; Skeeter Boats gave them shirts and hats. This trip was organized between Brigid O'Donoghue of USSA and Lori Stevens of Patriot Paws Service Dogs. I have to say the fishing was not the best, but the day was a great one. We did catch some fish with Robin catching the biggest one of the day, and the only bad thing, it was a 6# catfish. But I told him I would not hold that against him. Usually when I take someone on a fishing trip such as this, they thank me for taking them, and Robin and Billy thanked me numerous times. In this situation, the thanks were all mine. I was privileged to spend the day on a beautiful lake in the country I love because of the men and women like Robin and Billy that serve in our military. What an honor for me. I have extended an offer to have them come back this spring when the fishing is really good to put them on some big bass; I sure hope they can join us. Texas Trophy Hunters sent shirts for the entire family, Gerald Gaspard from Pure Fishing (Berkley) sent a rod and reel for one of the guys, and Joe Joslin of Joe Joslin Outdoors sent a rod and reel for the other veteran. I also want to thank Jared Taylor of Plano Marine for fishing with us and helping with the extra Skeeter Bass Boat provided by Plano Marine to make the trip more enjoyable for them. Many thanks to Tony Bayat CFS who donated shirts and hats and let me have the time off to make this trip possible. Perry Powell USSA Advisory Council
