Although our USSA Charity has been doing hunts for a variety of game since the year 2000, our 1st turkey hunt took place in 2004. Five special young hunters took part in that 1st turkey hunt right here in Wisconsin. From that, we have expanded turkey hunting for critically and disabled children from Wisconsin to Alabama, Illinois and Oklahoma. In Wisconsin alone there will be 23 special hunters attending this season’s USSA turkey hunt. Property owners from around the country are donating their lands and time along with guides and taxidermists who also share their time and services to help fulfill the dream hunts for these young hunters. The kids on the USSA turkey hunt in Illinois had battling winds, rain, sleet and snowy weather, but for most of our kids daily life enduring serious illness and treatment has been a daily challenge. We know that a little rough weather won’t deter their dreams. All of us with the USSA and childswish.com are so thankful for the many volunteers that give so much in providing the real opportunity for these special kids to get their first turkey during what is now the USSA’s largest turkey hunt. We hope to be posting stories and pictures soon as the hunts conclude. God bless all of you! Brigid O’Donoghue |

Hey John, I wasn't able to attend the WI turkey hunts this year; Pete and I had to attend the WI Deer and Turkey expo. Last I heard (yesterday) there were nine happy gobblers : ) I can wait to hear their stories and see all the pictures. Brigid |
