I sold a doe fawn on 3-06 and it appears she is barren. The buyer wants me to replace her with a bred doe at this time but I am oversold on bred does. What would be the industry standard for making this right. I have already offered him 2 doe fawns from 08 crop.

I have had over 200 doe fawns and only had one barren but there is always a first time.Maybe his buck is not the stud he thinks he is.To keep a good reputation the customer is always right
[they think] and would be in your best interest to do the right thing. Our doe did not have fawns for three years. Upon a close examination we found testicals under her skin so she became our IT.

I think your offer of 2 doe fawns is reasonable and your customer should consider it as a true representation of yur character.

Jay Bird, that is an extremely reasonable offer and I am sure that anyone that hears of this would be very encouraged to do business with you.

That is very strange Deerwhisperer. I have heard of that happening in the wild after a doe had been harvested and discovered to be an IT. Any idea how often this happens?

This is the first time we have had a doe with testicals It was in with a buck for 3 years and nothing.T.B testing that fall I asked the vet about her not getting p.g. when she discovered her problem.Needless to say I put her in with a different buck and she gave birth to a Albino buck but she died 4 hours later so we bottle fed him.He is now 3 years old.

I wouldn't be to quick to say she's barren. I would give her 2 chances to fawn. You probably don't have to wait much longer to see.

Dr. Kroll says there's no such thing as a barren doe. Hermaphrodites aren't really does, so if you sold him a true doe...

Update - I had a doe give birth to 2 healthy buck fawns this past weekend, she is 3 and has never had fawns. Due to her pedigree, we've AIed her every year and put a cover buck on her, no fawns until this year.
